We accept applications year-round and only through Submittable. A non-refundable $15.00 application fee applies to all first-time applicants who are applying for a residency. We highly suggest you take the time to familiarize yourself with the purpose of RWC by reading our website, especially “What is a Writers’ Colony” https://rockvalewriterscolony.org/about/what-is-a-writers-colony/
Residency weeks will be offered for the weeks stated in the application form and shown in green on the Availability Calendar. It may be possible to extend residencies outside the stated dates. This will be at the discretion of the director. Please ask if you have questions.
NOTE: Food and travel are the responsibility of the writer. Writers may request to stay in the Cabin and Granary (additional fees apply) and when possible, we’ll do our best to fulfill these requests. Filling out the application completely and in detail is extremely important. Acceptance as a writer-in-residence at RWC is not guaranteed.
These are the remaining weeks the colony is open for Residency in 2026. You will be asked to choose which week/s you’re interested in on the application.

If a writer wants to come for residency on a week that’s not listed above, they can request to stay in the Granary, a stand-alone building with its own kitchen. It has everything needed for a solitary week of writing. Email Sandy at sandy.rockvale@gmail.com for more info or to ask questions.
The Following Fees apply to all writers:
Weeklong Residency Fee (6 nights, Monday to Sunday):
$550 ($91.66/night) for Farmhouse Rooms.
$600.00 ($100/night) for Cabin and Granary.
Mini-Residency Fee (2-3 nights)– $125 per night for Farmhouse Rooms, $150 per night for Cabin and Granary
Cleaning Fee – $50
Sales Tax of 9.75% and Occupancy Tax of 4%
A non-refundable deposit of one-half (1/2) of the total fee is required to hold your spot on the calendar. This must be paid upon acceptance and scheduling of dates. Payment can be made by mailing a check or money order made payable to Rockvale Writers’ Colony and mailed to RWC, 7020 Giles Hill Road, College Grove, TN 37046 OR by requesting a Paypal Invoice. A processing fee of 3.5% is added to all Paypal invoices. Please do not pay with Paypal without an invoice.
The balance of fees (the remaining half) is due 4 weeks before arrival of writer. Payment can be made in the same manner as the deposit.
The writer’s contract must be read, initialed, and signed and is due 4 weeks before arrival. This can be signed online using a Google Forms link which will be provided.
If residency is canceled by the writer 4 weeks or more before the scheduled residency, it can be rescheduled within the same calendar year with no additional fee. If the residency is canceled by the writer less than 4 weeks before the scheduled residency, it cannot be rescheduled and all monies paid are forfeited.
If residency is canceled by RWC for any reason, a full refund will be issued.
